The Boys

Come and find a few things out about the men that peform on stage for the Players

Name:- Nathan Baron

Biography:- Nathan Baron is a Time Lord from Gallifrey, or so he claims. He was born in theyear of the first Star Wars movie, in the sleepy county of Wiltshire. He then grew up. And he grew up some more. Then he stopped growing. Eventually, he found
himself in Hemel Hempstead; a rather dull place, in the county of Hertfordshire.  Nothing really happens there, so he decided to take up writing.

Currently, Nathan is writing a Children's book, and has completed the first draft. He promises that this book has nothing to do with Doctor Who. All he will say that it's a magical fantasy. He's also is writing for Gwenthia, a role-playing game setting with a few friends. One day, he would love to write a TV episode for Doctor Who. But he's still waiting for the call from Russell T
Davies.

First Players Show:- Up The Tempo - July 2005

Name:- Lee Evans

Biography:- I live in Grovehill with my partner Laura and daughter Casey. I have been a member of the players since 1990 and took a brief stint out for two years and became a Redcoat for Butlins between 1993 and 1995. I have been working as a Support Analyst for Northgate Information Solutions since 1996 and helped the company recover from the Buncefield Incident. Away from work and ‘The Players’, I am Player/Manager for the Midland Hotel FC and a life-long Watford FC Supporter. I am rarely seen in a Summer show for the Players as I attend and play in an annual European football tournament for a Watford Supporters Team on the same weekend, although I am more than happy if these weekends don’t clash and I can do both.

First Players Show:- Anything Goes - January 1990 ... Appropriate

Favourite Players Show:- Have enjoyed all that I've been in

Favourite Act That I Have Appeared In:- The Full Monty. What a laugh we had doing that.

Worst Act That I Have Appeared In:- I once attempted a dance solo to Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean. The sound recording I done of the act was so poor that people in the audience couldn’t hear it or figure out what I was doing. It looked like I was doing a dance without music and it was terrible. I was gutted and I am reminded of it frequently!

Favourite Act That I Wasn't In:- Sonny Boy sketch. Preferably NOT the mother pushing the pram! Although I don’t think I could do it anywhere near as good as Roy and Sonia Payne did when I first saw the act all those years ago! I previously would’ve said not being able to do a comedy sketch with the 2 Ian’s but I now get my chance in Variety and More.

Most Embarrassing Moment (on stage or otherwise):- Both in "A String of Pearls" - Going down on Kelly far too early in ‘Hit the road Jack’ and finishing the song before anyone else. Then swearing ‘SH*T’ whilst the mikes were still on and is quite clearly audible on the DVD.   Asking Evie for a ‘Big, Sweaty, Sloppy, Floppy, Doppy kiss’ during the Love Me Tender jokes.

Claim To Fame:- Being one of the Butlins World Famous Redcoats has to be my claim to fame. I was on telly a couple of times (local and national). We sold and signed lots of personal photographs for children and I am probably in a lot of people’s photo albums in a loft somewhere. Doing a job that you enjoy so much and bringing entertainment to others was the best feeling. I made a lot of friends there who have gone on to do telly work and I sometimes think I left too early. That’s life I guess. I would not have changed those 2 years for anything though.

Most Embarrassing Moment (on stage or otherwise):- During a powerfully moving monologue 'A deck of cards', suddenly realising that the pack of cards I was meant to be showing to the audience had been swopped for some 'Adult material' - (see Naughty Boys)

Claim To Fame:- An extra in Birds of a Feather, although not exactly stardom is it??

First Players Show:- Back In The Swing - July 2007

Favourite Players Show:- Has to be Back In The Swing as I have only appeared in one show far.  Having said that, it was great fun and  it's what made me continue.

Favourite Acts That I Have Appeared In:- Before joining the Players, I was in a comedy production of "Boeing Boeing" at RAFHalton Theatre Company.  This is where I got the "bug" and was the start of my dream to act on stage.  I played Robert in that play.  There is a professional version of the play currently in the West End, but as yet they haven't telephoned me!!

Worst Act That I Have Appeared In:- Having only appeared in Back In The Swing and Boeing Boeing,  I loved them both so do not have a worst act yet !!

Favourite Act That I Wasn't In:- Playing Robert in Boeing Boeing, because the amount of lines that I had to learn.  The play lasted for 2 hours and required immense concentration, timing and hard work.
